Land reclaimation work is done regularly in the mined out areas of every project and about 1872 Ha of land has been reclaimed out of the total excavated area of 2678 Ha till 31 st March' 06. Out of reclaimed land, 1105 Ha has been biologically reclaimed.

Regular plantation work is being done in the company in and around its projects and about 37.52 lakhs trees have been planted since 92-93.

Welfare Activities


Commensurate with the expansion programme due emphasis has been given to the welfare measure.

The housing satisfaction in MCL is around 79.96% as on 31.03.2008. Good. Schooling facilities for the employees' children are provided there are a number of water supply scheme in the mines in both the coalfields and there is 100% Water Supply Satisfaction in the company's quarter. In addition to this, Water supply arrangements by deep bore holes with submersible pumps, tube wells with pumps, portable drinking water supply through tankers and pipe water supply is also provided in some villages around the mines.

Medical Facilities

The health care to the employees and their entitled dependants in MCL is being rendered through its dispensaries, hospital & Central hospitals spread over coalfields. Both the central hospitals are equipped with latest diagnostic facilities having all major specialization departments.

Apart from diagnostic and curative facilities, MCL also renders Preventive Health Care Services (in the form of immunization, School Health Programmes Village health programmes, Family welfare camps and Eye camps), Promotive health care services (Health education, Health awareness Cmmunity health services), operational health services to its workers and rehabilitative health care in the form of Physically handicapped camps and deafness camps etc. not only to its employees but also to the people living around the coalfields.
